April 18, we’ll be joined by one of the guys we watched in our last meeting about Apologetics Online!

Via live Google Hangout, Brett Kunkle of Stand to Reason (str.org) will be asking and answering the question: Can we be good without God?

Atheists claim we don’t need God to be moral. In this talk we’ll examine the atheist’s confusion, raise the problem of good for the atheist and show that God’s existence best explains the existence of objective moral values.

Join us Thursday, April 18, from 6:30-8:30
Room 7 at Church of the Living God, 1514 Birmley Rd.

We hope to see you there! Please share this invite on your FB wall, with your friends, and with your church to expand our reach. This is a community forum for all those interested in defending the claims of classical Christianity.

Apologetics Online

Well, it looks like this internet fad is still popular. So what are you going to do with it?

If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest in the world.

The average email user gets 147 messages per day.

Over 4 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube.

Podcasts and on-demand viewing are presenting unimagined issues to the entertainment industry.

Here’s the bottom line: The internet is here to stay.

This raises some interesting questions for us:
…Can we interact with it in a productive way?
…Is there a way to reach people online?
…What sources exist that we ought to be aware of?

There are plenty more questions and issues to discuss. Bring them with you this Thursday as we look at the topic of how to do apologetics online.

Leading up to Easter 2013, we have been looking at claims that oppose Christianity. Was Jesus a myth? Was he a real person? Did he claim to be God?

On March 7, we have a special treat. We will be spending the evening with Dr Mike Licona via Google+ Hangout looking at the resurrection hypothesis and related topics. The event will be streamed on this page.

Mike has a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies, and is a sought-after speaker. Mike is a member of the Evangelical Philosophical Society, the Institute for Biblical Research, and the Society of Biblical Literature. He is also associate professor in theology at Houston Baptist University and the president of Risen Jesus, Inc.

Mike is the author, co-author or editor of six books on various apologetic topics. Two of his books delve deep into the evidence surrounding the resurrection. Is it just a story, or do we have any solid reasons to believe it really happened? We will use this meeting to learn from Mike about what history has to tell us and what the scholars think. Mark your calendars, because this will be a good one. Bring your questions too – this will be a fantastic opportunity to get answers to those questions that have stumped you.

The popularity of the internet movie Zeitgeist and the recent surge of books by the “new atheists” have revived the belief that Jesus was a myth that copied earlier cultures.

This Thursday we will be examining the claims, discussing where we go for information, and exploring the most effective responses to offer skeptics.
